Racial Equity Institute Training

The Racial Justice Planning Group is hosting a Racial Equity Institute (REI) Phase I training on Oct. 15-16 in the Youth Wing. REI’s two-day workshop is designed to provide attendees with a vocabulary and historical framework for racism to better understand how it damages lives in all communities.

REI’s 2-day workshop is designed to develop the capacity of participants to better understand racism in its institutional and structural forms. Moving away from a focus on personal bigotry and bias, the workshop presents a compelling historical, cultural, and structural analysis of racism. With shared language and a clearer understanding of how institutions and systems are producing inequitable outcomes, participants should leave the training better equipped to begin to work for change.

We anticipate people from throughout the region attending. Thanks to the generosity of the Racial Justice and Reconciliation Committee of our diocese, scholarship funding is available. If financial support would help make this training more accessible to you, please reach out to Aleta McClenney at aleta@att.net BEFORE registering.

Pre-registration is required. Learn more and register here.

Alumni of prior trainings are always welcome to attend at a reduced cost that covers their meals.
