Confirmation is a sacred rite for older youth (ages 16+), in which they claim the Christian faith as their own. Many of our youth were baptized as small children, and confirmation is a chance for them to confirm that commitment and renew their baptismal vows.
We’ll celebrate confirmation when Bishop Sam Rodman visits St. Paul’s on April 19, 2026. To prepare for the day, confirmands will participate in a class led by Erica Ridderman, to deepen their understanding of our baptismal covenant. We’ll reflect on our vows in baptism, asking questions like “How do we resist evil in our world?,” “What is the Good News?,” and “How do we seek and serve Christ in all persons?”
Youth confirmation class will take place during the Sunday Formation hour (10:15-11 a.m.) on the five Sundays of Lent: Feb. 22 through Mar. 22. For the final session, youth and adult confirmands will gather together.
Please fill out this form to register your interest in being confirmed. Questions? Interested but not sure? Contact Erica at erica@stpaulscary.org, and she’d be delighted to talk!
Participating in the confirmation class doesn’t mean you have to be confirmed at the end. You’re welcome to attend, learn, and decide not to be confirmed. That would be just fine too.
