Worship. Serve. Grow.

Yam Jam 2024

Join the Children’s Ministries Committee and Pre-EYC families as we travel to a local farm to participate in sweet potato gleaning. Gleaning is a way we can care for creation, help feed the hungry, and enjoy time outside together!

Help collect leftover crops from farmers’ fields after they have been commercially harvested or on fields where it is not economically profitable to harvest. What we collect is then given to local food banks to distribute to people in need.

We won’t know the exact location for our gleaning until the day before; please direct questions to Emily Freeman at emilysearl@hotmail.com. Emily will let you know on Friday Oct. 11th where to meet on Oct. 12. We will NOT meet at St. Paul’s; feel free to carpool with other families to share the fun!

Here are some practical pointers for gleaning:

  • Wear comfortable shoes (rain boots are great) and clothes you do not mind getting dirty.
  • There is no bathroom on-site, we will advise you of the nearest available restroom on the day of the event.
  • Bring water and gloves if you would like to use them.
