New Vestments for St. Paul’s!

The vestry of St. Paul’s has authorized the use of general memorial funds (a “savings account” of undesignated donations made in memory of fellow parishioners when they die) to purchase a full, basic set of new chasubles and matching stoles in the four main liturgical colors of the church year (white, purple, red, and green). Chasubles are the colorful poncho-like vestments that the presider of the eucharist wears on Sundays. Stoles are the matching sash-like vestments that identify those in the congregation who have been set apart for ordained ministries in the church.

To have a full set of the chasubles and stoles in place before a new rector is called is among the many things that your vestry, interim clergy, and staff are doing during this transition for you and your new rector to begin your ministry together without a hitch! Memorial funds are traditionally saved up precisely for special purchases such as this. We are grateful for the generosity of parishioners over the years whose gifts have made this once-in-a-generation purchase possible. The set is unlined (therefore not too hot) and very attractive, yet simple in design. It’s the same set that Fr. Javier collected for his own personal use, and is a modest but essential investment for the parish.

These items will be delivered to the church in early October, and we’ll consecrate them for use at St. Paul’s when we celebrate All Saints Day, Nov 2!
