ADULT FORMATION: Today in the Chapel from
10:15 – 11:00 a.m., the Scripture and Formation series continues with “The Formation of the Old Testament,” led by Andrew Zawierucha. Coffee will be available in the Chapel Narthex before class. Next Sunday’s class topic is “Made in God’s Image: Formed by the Old Testament” led by the Rev. Javier E. Almendárez Bautista.

Wednesday, September 28 from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. the third session in a three-week formation series entitled “Images of God” will be held in the Youth Wing. Join the Rev. George Adamik as he leads us through an exploration of our images of God and invites us to consider new images as well.

COFFEE HOUR MINISTRY HIGHLIGHTS: The Men’s Group is hosting coffee hour in the Parish Hall following the 9:00 a.m. service today. This group fosters fellowship while providing various service projects and activities for the parish, including Lobster Fest, Men’s Beach Week, and food for the Parish Picnic and Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper.

Next week the Dorcas Ministries will be hosting coffee hour.

THE ARTS & CRAFTS FESTIVAL FOR OUTREACH held on Saturday, November 12, 2016 needs volunteers. Visit our website at www.stpaulscary.org/festival/ to find out more about the Festival and to learn how you can help. We especially need baked goods for our bake sale, and arts and crafts items to sell at the St. Paul’s Table. In addition, we are asking local businesses to donate merchandise, gift cards, tickets, etc. to our raffle. YOGA: Nancy Harrell will be leading a yoga class at St. Paul’s from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. on Sunday afternoons, starting on September 25. If you’ve wondered whether yoga is for you, this is a good chance to try it out in a friendly (and free!) environment. Please email Nancy at nharrellmt@nc.rr.com for more information.

THE BLESSING OF THE ANIMALS is Sunday, October 2, 2016 at 1:00 p.m., rain or shine! The blessings will be held in the Courtyard if the weather is good, otherwise it will be held in the Parish Hall. All animals welcome. Dogs should be on leashes, cats and other animals should be in carriers.

ASP 2016 – PLEASE BE OUR GUEST FOR LUNCH: On October 16 at 12:30 p.m. in the Parish Hall, St. Paul’s Appalachia Service Project crew will hold a Sharing Luncheon for the parish. This is a chance for those who went on ASP this summer to say thank you to everyone at St. Paul’s for their support of this mission trip. Come meet the volunteers, hear about our experiences, and be our guest for lunch. RSVPs are not required but would be appreciated. STOP HUNGER NOW: We have another opportunity to pack meals with Stop Hunger Now coming soon. We need about 70 volunteers to make this a successful event. The event is Sunday, October 9 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon in the Parish Hall. We will be packaging 13,000 meals. Stop Hunger Now is a multi-generational ministry that packs meals. NEWCOMER CLASS: If you are interested in learning more about St. Paul’s, join us for three consecutive Monday evenings, October 3, 10, and 17, in the sanctuary from 7:00 – 8:15 p.m. The classes will be led by the Rev. George Adamik and the Rev. Javier E. Almendárez Bautista. Ministry leaders will come in to share information about the many opportunities in which to participate. REFUGE FOR REFUGEES: Join us Sunday, September 25 from 3:30 – 5:30 p.m. in the Parish Hall to welcome the Karen family, a refugee family who arrived in June from Myanmar (formerly known as Burma). Welcome Home cake, coffee, and lemonade will be provided by the Refuge for Refugee committee. A translator will assist us in communicating with the family.

STAY AT HOME PARENTS GROUP: Come join us on Monday mornings at 9:30 a.m. in the Kids Club for some relaxed free play for kids and socializing for adults! BLOOD DRIVE: Saturday, October 29 from 9:00 – 12:00 noon. Please consider donating blood. If you are 17 years old, at least 110 pounds and in good health you are wanted! You can save up to 3 lives with just one pint of blood. Please consider giving the gift of life! There is a sign up link on the website. LOBSTER FEST: Saturday, October 1 is Lobster Fest! Go to lobsterfestcary.org and stake your claim for a live or cooked 1 ½ lb. fresh Maine lobsters, lobster meals, chicken meals, or our ever-popular Quarta Pounda Lobsta Roll on a grilled La Farm Bakery bun with slaw, chips, and a brownie. Help us by handing out Lobster Fest business cards, putting up Lobster Fest flyers (both available in the narthex), and working a few hours at the event.

SECOND CHANCE PROM: The St. Paul’s Youth Fundraising Team is hosting a dance for all parishioners on October 21 from 6:00 – 10:00 p.m. in the Parish Hall. Adult parishioners and guests, please join us for a fun trip down memory lane. The dance will have a “Blast from the Past” theme and will raise funds for the youth mission trips. • Children’s Chapel continues today at the 9:00 a.m. service only. Children’s Chapel is for children ages 3 through 2nd Grade. Please follow the children’s cross processional to the Youth Wing.
• Clergy Led Chapel will be held today at the 9:00 a.m. service. This Chapel is for children ages 3rd – 5th grade. During the children’s processional please meet Father Javier at the door to the courtyard.
• The 2016-2017 Children’s Collection Basket is collecting funds to host a Note in the Pocket Sort Day on June 4, 2017. So far we have collected $325.02 toward our $3000.00 goal.
• Please bring in new socks and undies (any size / gender) for our first set of Socks and Undies Sundays for Note in the Pocket, scheduled for September 11 – October 9. Note in the Pocket will also accept new and like-new clothing and shoes (any size / gender).
• Pre-EYC starts today, Sunday, September 25 at 11:15 a.m. in the Parish Hall. Email Christine Ingram to add your 4th or 5th grader to the information list.
• Our family friendly Gleaning will be held on the morning of October 8 at First Fruits Farms in Louisburg, NC. All ages and stages are welcome to glean sweet potatoes!

• Sunday School: The lesson today is entitled “Spirituality: Praising God.” Middle School meets in the Youth Wing (go straight there, snacks are provided) and High School meets in Room 10.
• No EYC Tonight: We had a blast at the lock in last night (into the wee hours of the morning!), but everyone needs to stay home and catch up homework and sleep tonight. EYC will be back next Sunday from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.

THE VESTRY NOMINATING COMMITTEE is currently seeking nominations for vestry members. Vestry terms are three years with the upcoming class beginning January 2017. Parishioners are encouraged to submit names of individuals who could potentially serve on the vestry. Nomination submissions are due October 2.
