Dear Friends,
In our Baptismal Covenant we make a number of promises. One is to “continue in the apostles’ teaching and fellowship, in the breaking of the bread, and in the prayers.” It’s clear to me that “the breaking of the bread” refers to the Eucharist, an essential part of our communal life. At the same time, I think “the breaking of the bread” also refers to simply sharing food together. Instead of breaking bread, maybe it’s scooping chili, dishing out cornbread, or sharing a platter of hot dogs. Read St.Paul’s Weekly Update from The Rev.
